For those who missed out on The First People Populaire, the Bay and Ocean 140k is the makeup populaire if you need this distance for to qualify for the RUSA Rouleur Award.
This ride is one of the flattest we have on the books. Starting from Meshuggah Shack in Mission Hills, you’ll descend into downtown to then follow the Bayshore Bikeway out to Coronado and back, passing Sea World and Mission Bay before making your way up Rose Creek and Rose Canyon to Torrey Pines. Turning around at Del Mar. Instead of climbing up Torrey Pines, you’ll turn inland to follow the bike path and then Sorrento Valley Rd before making your way up the UCSD bike path. For the final bit of challenge, you’ll need to negotiate your way up Juan St through Old Town before returning to Messhugah Shack.
