David is bringing back this popular populaire that showcases Elfin Forest for an easy Sunday spin.

Starting from the Vons center in La Jolla Colony, you’ll head north, riding through UCSD to descend down the UCSD bike path. After completing the short but punchy climb up Carmel Mountain Rd, you’ll head for the 52 bike path on which you’ll ride until you jump off at Rancho Santa Fe Farms to continue north toward the posh neighborhood of Rancho Santa Fe. Heading east on Del Dios Hwy, you’ll ride by Lake Hodges Dam as you climb into Escondido, arriving at the McDonalds control .

From Escondido, you’ll reach Harmony Grove Rd, riding by the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve on your extended descent on a quiet country road surrounded by suburban sprawl. As the road bends right, it become Elfin Forest Rd where you’ll start your climb back to the community of San Elijo. Though ever so close to dreaded Double Peak, you will only skirt by its base as you head west on San Elijo Rd through the village of Olivenhain to return to the coast on Lomas Santa Fe, slogging over some short but “fun” climbs, finish up with the ever so popular Torrey Pines. From Torrey, you’ll descend down Gilman Dr to return to the Vons shopping center.
