Continuing our Staying Coastal theme to get through the summer heat, this 200k start from Coronado, following the shores of the San Diego Bay on the Bayshore Bikeway to Downtown. Unlike other coastal routes in the brevet library, you’ll turn inland to take on the rolling hills and ridgelines.
You’ll need to survive Linda Vista, Clairemont and University City as you battle through the land of 10,000 traffic lights. After UCSD, you’ll then encounter the short but sharp climbs of Rancho Santa Fe. After Olivenhain, you’ll enter Encinitas to ride on El Camino Real, the Genesee Ave of the North with the extended rollers and the 10,000 traffic lights, reaching Carlsbad, the middle “C” of C2C2C, where you will turn south but this time along the coast to return to Coronado.
